Festival Lineups
After Lollapalooza released its full lineup I decided to compare all the major festivals I can think of and see which would be most worth going to. Here is my list of the best bands of each (I need to listen to more bands, but I’ve heard of a lot of them)
Lolla’s best points: Lou Reed, Decemberists, Animal Collective, Band of horses, Of Montreal, Arctic Monkeys, Bon Iver, Cold War Kids, Deer Hunter, PB &J, Silversung Pickups
Sasquatch: Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Decemberists, Animal Collective, Bon Iver, NIN (i guess they would be good live), Of Montreal, M83, Ben Harper (or so Ive heard he is good), Silversung Pickups, Fleet Foxes, Grizzly Bear, Explosions in the sky
Bonnaroo: Springsteen, Phish, David Bryne, Wilco, Ben Harper (again live?), Elvis Costello (idk if he would be good live), TV on the radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, MGMT, Public Enemy, Andrew Bird, Band of horses, TRIUMPH (HAHA), The Decemberists, Girl Talk, Bon Iver, Bela Fleck, Rodrigo and Gabriella (again live?), Of Montreal, Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear, Bret Dennon (I saw him live on late night and liked him), the dirty projectors
Cochilla: Paul McCartney, Conor Oberst (he is an amazing live performer), Beirut, Girl Talk, Siversung Pickups, M.Ward, TV on the Radio, Band of Horses, Fleet Foxes, Dr dog, Blitzen Trapper (or so I hear), My Bloody Valentine, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, PB & J
P4k: Built to Spill, Yo La Tengo, National, Wavves, Flaming Lips, Grizzly Bear, M83, Blitzen Trapper, The Very Best
I am for sure going to P4k, which I feel is a great decision, it is the best line up for the money. To order the festivals I would say the one I want to go to most would be Bonnaroo, then Sasquatch, Lollapalooza, Pitchfork (But Built to Spill and Flaming Lips might proove to kick more ass than imaginable), Cochilla - It is over now and I heard it was decent, but it was too much moeny for too few good bands, but MBV would have been worth it. The only ones I could not miss would be MBV, Paul, and Beriut.
If I randomly got $250 bucks I didn’t need (which I do need) and had people to go with I pick Bonnaroo hands down. It has the best lineup, the best community, and would be really fun, I hate hippies but I could stand to be one for 4 days. I am excited for p4k, I hope they add more great bands, for only 25 a day it is an amazing deal for 3 days of music, plus Built to Spill is so incredible.
