levidouglass:
Listen to the electrifying sounds of Uncle Dan & the Holy Smokes on their debut record.
Written and recorded within a two to three hour period on a cool autumn night.

I think Pen Ward needs to record an album after he gets done with adventure time. He sings the theme song in this little video and its great.

I love literal music videos. The ones on funny or die seem to consistently be the best. Enjoy.

Pitchfork-Friday
I wish I could have gone but alas keeping my job is more important. I did however watch all (except for when my internet crashed during Built to Spill!!!) of the show live online, which was really nice and easy. My thoughts on the acts are as follows:
Tortoise: Great for what they were but after a while the songs blended together because there wasn’t any vocals to provide a focal point. I...
Screw Hugo Chavez I want my free Slurpee
Just read the last paragraph if you are lazy.
So the other day I went to go purchase some tickets for the Andrew Bird concert, and when looking up the tickets on LiveNation’s website I saw a few different promotions; one being a “7/11 Day” ticket for $7.11. So of course this peaked my interest and I did a bit of research and found that LiveNation had paired with 7-Eleven...

I enjoyed Star Trek. It seemed like the screenwriters and director understood the Star Trek world better than any Treky. They created a world where it actually seemed foreign to me, as if I had actually been transported to the future where they have an entirely new set of social mannerisms and ways of living. Every thing was quite amazing, aside from how fast paced and continuous the events were....
In the Aeroplane over the Sea
Did you know that ITAOTS was the sixth best selling vinyl record of 2008, that is just amazing. Ten years later it still manages to change people’s perceptions of music. A few others on the top ten vinyl sales of 08 include; OK Computer, In Rainbows, Fleet Foxes, Dark Side of the Moon, and Abby Road. Its great that vinyl sales are growing, its easy to download 10,000 songs and give them a...

I wish I could do this! Apparently Billy Mays has a show on the Discovery channel now called Pitchmen, where he and helps promote peoples products or something. I had always hoped that he was like this all the time, like dealing with his kids, “You aren’t grounded for one week, no, not even two weeks, but you get a whole month of being grounded!” and so on. If I were him I would...
Festival Lineups
After Lollapalooza released its full lineup I decided to compare all the major festivals I can think of and see which would be most worth going to. Here is my list of the best bands of each (I need to listen to more bands, but I’ve heard of a lot of them)
Lolla’s best points: Lou Reed, Decemberists, Animal Collective, Band of horses, Of Montreal, Arctic Monkeys, Bon Iver, Cold War...

METH MINUTE MONDAYS: Syd Barrett Visits His Accountant
It’s that magical time of the year: Tax season. Here’s what happens when the most psychedelic man on earth is forced to do the most boring activity ever. Features three fake Syd songs that sound so authentic we fooled numerous Pink Floyd fansites into thinking they were hearing unreleased tracks.
“Nasty Prisms, Good Sir”...
Arcade Fire's new dvd →
Pitchfork tv is featuring Arcade Fire’s new dvd Miroir Noir on its one week only channel. You should check it out, this is one of the most passionate bands preforming today, and I want to see them live so badly. They mix lots of recording takes, and concert footage as well as various phone calls from people about the ‘Neon Bible’. It is really great, enjoy.
I took my brother to the Children’s Museum today, and the pool ball machine was always my favorite, and I am glad it is still there. The top floor is the best, the water works, pool ball machine, the construction zone with the rubber rocks, you can build that arch, also the view of the giant glass sculpture is great from the top floor. Going there brought back some good memories and I...

Music Genome
I have know about Pandora.com for a couple of months, but never really invested time in it till I put windows on my mac and didn’t feel like transferring music files. So I spent a good couple of days listening to music and creating stations. I didn’t realize how it worked till today, and I was amazed. Way back in 2000 or so the founders of the site started their music genome project...
Wednesdays
Typically I have one favorite day of the week, in high school it was always Thursdays, but this year it seems to be Wednesdays. I have always hated Mondays, it is basic human nature to hate Mondays. Anyway here are a few reasons why I find delight in Wednesdays: It is the only day I watch television shows, I do enjoy Lost and South Park pretty much nothing else on TV is enjoyable these days. And...
Thoughts on The Watchmen
Going into the movie I had literally zero expectations. I had never heard of the graphic novel till the movie was practically done, and after hearing all the hype and finally all the disappointment from people I wrote it off as another comic book movie. So I will say because I had no hopes of excellence I was decently impressed with the movie… well more like I didn’t think it sucked.

I was organizing my documents today and I stumbled upon a word doc of a thread I had posted over two years ago on a facebook movie group (The one Cory started). I read it an laughed so I thought I would repost it somewhere more open. I wish I would have done more but here it is unchanged.
“Okay, so I am watching TV the other day and I am perplexed by this commercial for Cinderella 3, yes 3,...

Arrah and the Ferns last concert. I finally got all the videos from that sad sad day up on vimeo, check them out. The quality isn’t great and I only got parts of some of the songs, but its nice to reminisce none the less. The band had its share of technical issues that day, much like any other time I saw them. The Ferns are quite a sad story, and I will admit I almost cried at the end of the...
