I love literal music videos. The ones on funny or die seem to consistently be the best. Enjoy.

I have been recording a lot more lately and I love to just sit and jam but I hardly ever take the time to go through my garageband files and edit them into a cohesive song. So I started putting forth the effort to go through all my old and new recordings and salvage as many ‘songs’ as I can and convert them to mp3. This won’t be an easy task as I have over 30 garageband files with an average length of about 15 to 20 minutes with some being an hour+. The song above I recorded the other day (8/28/09) and I thought it sounded cool. Enjoy.
The Terrible Thunder Lizards was amazing. I totally forgot about this show till today. The internet is the best resource ever.
Here is a little email I shot to the flag@whitehouse.gov inorder to inform them of the ignorance of conservatives. If you haven’t started reporting people yet please start, they just don’t know what is good for themselves.
“Hello,
I have heard loads of nonsense from some self-righteous Republicans that this wonderful healthcare bill would not allow for Americans to change their private heath insurance plan after the initiation of the bill’s plan. I know this has to be a load of lies, one of those cheap tricks to fool everyday people into thinking the government is screwing them over. I decided to read the bill and prove them otherwise. I found some eloquently written words describing how far the Government is going to “Protect the choice to keep current coverage”. It even says it in the title of this portion of the document. How could Republicans be so stupid, I mean you don’t even have to read what is after the title of that section because it clearly states what it means. Some people! They make such a fuss over nothing. I mean they should be glad that we are so considerate as to give them a choice. How could the be so bold as to think that they have a right to chose anything other than this perfect plan. Why do Republicans even talk, they just spout off a bunch of jibberish they heard on Limbaugh the day prior. I mean they think they know what is best for America, but they don’t! Only the Government can know that because they are the ones who have the money to fix all of Americas problems.
(End Sarcasm)”
Here is a list of concerts I am contemplating attending. Feed back would be awesome, I’m looking for people to go with.
*Must go.
If there are any other decent concerts in the midwest area please tell me.
I wish I could have gone but alas keeping my job is more important. I did however watch all (except for when my internet crashed during Built to Spill!!!) of the show live online, which was really nice and easy. My thoughts on the acts are as follows:
Tortoise: Great for what they were but after a while the songs blended together because there wasn’t any vocals to provide a focal point. I enjoyed them but obviously just a opener band.
Yo La Tengo: I really like almost everything I have heard from this band on albums but they started off very weak tonight. The main singer could barely sing and didn’t keep much of a tune. I loved the set from Stockholm Syndrome on, and the epic guitar solo at the end only reaffirmed how great they really are.
The Jesus Lizard: Honestly I hated this band, well the band was pretty good but the singer was so obnoxious and was basically yelling the whole set, not much singing at all. Every song sounded just like the one before it, and it only got worse. They did not deserve to come back out for an encore. But I guess if you can get a bunch of hipsters to mosh and crowd surf more power to you.
Built to Spill: This band is phenomenal, and if you watched the concert you know exactly what I mean. Pitchfork does some sort of theme with each friday night to open the festival and typically they have the band play an album in its entirety, which would have been amazing for Built to Spill because they have two astonishing albums to choose from. However tonight was “write the set night” where fans choose the songs. I am not sure who voted for these songs but if you voted for any but 3 of the songs played in this set you obviously have never listened to the band before. I honestly think the fans chose the worst possible set for Built to Spill. Not to say that it was bad because it destroyed everyother set played tonight, but picking “Else” and “You Were Right” over any other Keep it Like a Secret song is an injustice to music. Not to mention all the non ‘Keep it’ and ‘Perfect from Now On’ songs that were chosen. I enjoyed what they did with the set but it could have been perfect.
All in all I wish I would have gone, but I am also glad I did not pay to go and miss work.
Just read the last paragraph if you are lazy.
So the other day I went to go purchase some tickets for the Andrew Bird concert, and when looking up the tickets on LiveNation’s website I saw a few different promotions; one being a “7/11 Day” ticket for $7.11. So of course this peaked my interest and I did a bit of research and found that LiveNation had paired with 7-Eleven connivence stores to offer tickets for $7.11 on July 11 (7-11), as well as giving away 711 $50 credits for LiveNation events. The only catch was that in order to have a chance at winning this $50 you had to enter a code. Now the great thing about this is that 7-Eleven is giving away free 11.7oz Slurpees with the codes on the cup. This includes the ability to buy select (mostly lawn and GA seats) “7/11 Day” tickets for anyone who receives a free Slurpee. So its like a win-win with a chance of a third win. I look up where a few 7-Elevens are and plan to hit them up today, that way I could buy me and Sarah cheap tickets to the Andrew Bird show. Now that you understand my plan here is what actually happened.
I have had the worst car trouble lately, not that I am bad with cars (I’v taken an engine and a transmission out of a Chevy 2500 and put it back together and it worked) its just that my father has so many terrible vehicles that he uses to run his ministry, and I get what ever is available. I get up at 6 AM to pick up a truck that is ‘done’ being worked on. I leave the repair shop and head towards 7/11, and about a mile down the road the truck dies. So my dad turns around and he tows me with an old piece of extension cord and rope. My dad then calls up the repair guy and asks if he can have his other truck that is ‘done’ (keep in mind my dad has 4 vehicles being worked on at this place currently, thats just how fancy my family is). So I get this truck and get ready to leave, I have decided by now that I will not go to 7/11 just so I can go home and be done with this truck business. I get on the interstate and turn on my windshield wipers and realize that the battery is probably going to die because of how slow they are going, so in the middle of I-65 I am forced to pull over and park on the side of the road, and the truck dies. Well, an hour later my mom has picked me up and I am back at home.
I later went to Tim Oberg’s wedding and had a good time. So on the way back I have to go pick up yet another truck from somewhere else for my father (yes its ridiculous, I know). My Mom was taking me to pick up the truck and she agreed that we should look for a 7-Eleven that I thought was near by, yet when we pulled up to what we thought would be a 7-Eleven it was a Citgo. So I assumed it went out of buisness, no big deal, I would try to go to another one on the way home. Well, after picking up this truck (crossing fingers that it would not explode) I headed into the Broad Ripple area to find another 7-Eleven that supposivly existed. When I pulled up to it yet again I found another Citgo. After giving up and heading home I did some research, apparently Citgo is a Venezuelan company and has many ties to insane ‘President’ Hugo Chavez. I also found that for about 20 years 7-Eleven had a contract with Citgo, and in they 2006 ended thier contract together because of a overwhelming out cry to boycott Citgo’s gas because of its ties to Chavez.
So long story short, I wanted a free Slurpee from 7-Eleven (its 7/11 Day) to get a special deal on concert tickets, and after a large amount of car trouble I find that the only 7-Elevens in Indy have been replaced by their former partner Citgo Gas, who they no longer do business with because they are owned by Hugo Chavez who is a huge dick. So Hugo Chavez owes me a free Slurpee and a concert ticket for $7.11. I will be waiting…
I enjoyed Star Trek. It seemed like the screenwriters and director understood the Star Trek world better than any Treky. They created a world where it actually seemed foreign to me, as if I had actually been transported to the future where they have an entirely new set of social mannerisms and ways of living. Every thing was quite amazing, aside from how fast paced and continuous the events were. I think they did a good job of establishing how things happen quickly in their world but events were still very abrupt. There were a few scenes that were just eye candy but that was to be expected. I was very satisfied with spending my money (or at least the money cory forgot to ask for) and I would gladly go see it again. id give it a %94. maybe higher.
Did you know that ITAOTS was the sixth best selling vinyl record of 2008, that is just amazing. Ten years later it still manages to change people’s perceptions of music. A few others on the top ten vinyl sales of 08 include; OK Computer, In Rainbows, Fleet Foxes, Dark Side of the Moon, and Abby Road. Its great that vinyl sales are growing, its easy to download 10,000 songs and give them a quick listen, but to put on a record and listen to it has so much more value. I need to get my record play working, and buy me a few good ones to relax to over the summer.
